Two days ago we set off from O'Cebreiro to begin our walk
to Santiago de Compostela.
We have had to face many challenges
already ..including freak storm conditions 4,000 feet up ( Sue was
literally blown off her feet at one point, much to the amusement of
some German pilgrims)
Our wet weather gear was well tested in heavy
rain, and we experienced impressive thunder and lightning.

However, we
have also enjoyed wonderful views in glorious sunshine,
and are proud of
our achievements so far.
Two long walking days with many steep
inclines and no blisters!
We have many stories to tell another day.
Look out for the tale of the grumpy monk, and the first
encounter with
an octopus!
As you would expect, we have laughed a lot!
We look
forward to another adventure tomorrow.
It looks like an amazing place - I reckon it's going to be hard to keep walking when you want to explore!! Not liking the thought of you walking in storms (although I would have liked to see Sue being blown off her feet!).
ReplyDeleteWe are all SO proud of you both and can't wait to hear your stories...Octopus? up a mountain?
love fee xx
Well done Granny and Sue. What a fitting start to an epic adventure! Who wants two weeks on a sun lounger when you could be encountering an octopus bearing monk with an attitude problem in a Spanish thunder storm?! It will be a great start to the first Chapter of your Spanish memoirs! You are both truly inspiring. Love you Al x
ReplyDeleteLaughed out loud at the idea of wind so bad you struggle to stay upright, have visions of you both clung to trees. Sounds like you are enjoying it, love you xxx
